How to Cook Grits Like a Champ!

How to Cook Grits Like a Champ!

Here in the South, we are serious about our grits.  Not only are they a Southern breakfast staple, they are also a delicious accompaniment to other meals. You will often find them offered as a side to seafood dishes, pot roast, and even served with ham and greens.  You can top them with butter, cheese, bacon, green onions, tomatoes, tomato gravy, sausage.... they sky really is the limit! At the Crain house, my dad perfected his baked cheese garlic grits that were usually served with grilled steak or chicken. In order to whip up any of these delicious concoctions, you need to know how to cook a basic pot of grits.  Here are my best tips on cooking a creamy pot of grits with our favorite stone ground C.A.S.E Farm grits ground in our home town, Ocilla, GA.

Here's what you will need: 1/2 cup grits, 1 and 1/2 cups water, 1/2 cup milk or half and half, 3 Tbs butter
